All Anti-Virus programs perform 2 tasks:
- It will UPDATE itself evry time the computer is turned on and it sees an internet connection. It will make sure that the AV program is up-to-date and protect you from the most current virus threats.
- It will SCAN your computer looking for the most recent & current virus threats. scan is usually set for once / week. The "Scan Schedule" can be modified to your preferences.
Depending on the Anti-Virus program you have installed on your computer, they will all perform in a similar fashion.
